Bow Braid tutorial

Welcome back! This week's tutorial is on a bow braid.  Click here to watch it.

I will apologize in advance for the filming of this video.  My little sister was filming.....bloopers may be uploaded later on this week ;).  Anyway, I'll use the help I can get.

To start off, you'll need:
One hair band
One hair pin (not a bobby pin. but the wavy, open kind)

1. Part your hair to the side and do a small, simple French braid along your face.  Finish it off and tie with a hair band.
2. Slide the hairpin partially under the outside stitch, facing away from your face.  Take a little section of hair and twist it into the hairpin, pulling through most of the way so that it makes a loop.
3. Pull the hairpin back out of the stitch so that the hair remains in a little loop.  Tug and spray with hairspray as needed.
4. Continue on until a few stiches before the hair finishes being added to the braid.
If this doesn't make sense, I apologize; it's much easier to show you in the video than to try and type out instructions :).
Thanks for watching and have a great week!

Katniss Braid

The Katniss braid tutorial is now live! Click here to watch it!

Now, if you remember how to do a Dutch braid like I showed you before, this should be no problem for you.  I can even do it on myself!
Items needed:
Hair brush
One hairband
1. Brush the tangles out of your hair, and part it to the side.
2. Begin by grabbing a small section of hair on the side of the part line that is bigger.
3. Braid the hair under the middle piece, instead of over like in a normal or French braid.
4. Add little sections of hair to the top and bottom strands as you go.
5. Tug the braid, with every stitch, toward the opposite side of your head.  Holding and braiding the strands of hair in this direction will cause it to braid around your head diagonally.
6. When you run out of hair to add, finish off the braid and tie it off with a hairband.

Waterfall Braid tutorial!

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry that I have not been posting on the blog recently, but my second tutorial is now up on YouTube! Watch the video here!

Waterfall braid:

You'll need:
A brush
a hairband

1. Brush all the tangles out of the hair, and part to the side.
2. Grab a chunk of hair near the forehead, on the side of the part that has more hair.
3. Braid over a few times to get the braid started, and then add hair to the topmost strand.
4. Braid over and tug the bottom strand out of the way.
5. Pick up a new bottom strand and use it for the next 'stitch' in the braid.
6. Add hair to the top strand and braid over again.

Once the braid goes as far as you want it to, you can either bobby pin it or continue a regular braid to finish it off like I do in the video.  Thanks for watching, and don't forget to like and subscribe!

French and Dutch Braid Tutorial

Hello everyone! My first video tutorial is now up! Please watch, like, and subscribe! I know that's a lot to ask, but I will be delighted if you do :).

This video is on how to do a French braid as well as a Dutch braid.  I also included how to do a wrap-around hairband trick, where you wrap your hair around the band to hide it.  Thank you so much for sticking with me and waiting! I know these braids are basic, but once you have them down you can do so much more, including waterfall and bow braids, which I plan to post tutorials on soon. Please comment the style you would like to see next, or email me a picture of it at girlyhandbook@gmail.com. I appreciate your input! Also, don't forget to follow me on Instagram, where my username is @girlyhandbook.

Check out my first tutorial here!
